Analysis of Virginia Registered Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships are long-term, paid, work-based learning opportunities that combine educational curricula with hands-on experience in an occupation. Registered apprenticeships meet federal requirements to assure quality, safety, wage standards, and relevance to industry. There is interest in Virginia and nationwide in expanding this work-based learning model. This paper provides an analysis of the current state of registered apprenticeships in Virginia using publicly available data from the U.S. DOL’s RAPIDS dataset. It provides information on the number of current apprentices, completers, and common occupations for apprentices among other things.
